100% Transparency
This is not a statement about the transparency of our project, this is the transparency of our project. And this is our core value. We believe a charity project cannot act without 100% transparency of expenditure. This is a bold statement, we know, but we put our money where our mouth is, and that is why here you can find, regularly updated, all of our expenses.
We launched this very site for €10/month, you can find that expense below in the (public) BookSheet. This website is one of those few ‘necessary evil’ expenses that unfortunately cannot be avoided. We strive to have as few of these expenses as possible, and each must be agreed upon by all members of our team before purchasing. Other ‘necessary evil’ examples are business registration costs, charity registration costs, NGO status costs, accounting software costs, bank registration fees (though bank accounts for registered charities are very economical), and a few necessary business consultations to ensure that our charity practice is ethical and effective. These ‘necessary evil’ expenses will be highlighted red in the BookSheet below.
We believe sharing our expenses is not only paramount for you (the donors) but for us too, as a way of analysing our spending.
The money isn't ours, but we act like it is. And we treat it with the same respect and frugality as if it was our own.
Just as we did in Cambodia, choosing to share a coconut for lunch to avoid spending an extra $5, we intend to do the same with Lovemore. Spending money in the right places, avoiding any waste, making sure each dollar reaches as far as physically possible. We're all willing to choose half a coconut for lunch if it means an extra bed in our dormitories.
