The Zimbabwe Dorm
Our project is very simple: to build a dormitory for young students so they may have safe access to education. It may seem like a small thing to us, but having a safe place to call 'second home' can be nothing short of life-changing.
Project
Starting Point
Over the past year we have been in contact with local NGOs, liaising with construction companies, and registering the necessary business side of our charity. We are delighted to have the support of European, Australian and Canadian donors that have chosen to believe in our project through funding or provision of supplies.
Community Support
We strongly believe in the development of the communities where we implement our projects. One of our core principles is to move beyond a purely assistive approach. By involving local communities in the project, we aim to create something that becomes self-sufficient; lasting even after we are gone.
End Result
We will create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for all students. A place that is secure and well-equipped. And, upon completion, we will have designed an affordable, efficient, and repeatable blueprint. So who knows where we can take it next...
Where it all began...
The 'promise' J wrote to himself when he visited Nechishala Secondary School in 2017 and saw the problem they faced.
The Blueprint
Safe. Affordable. Practical.
Budget. Quantities. Materials.
For all those interested in the 'boring' side of things.
